Our philosophy

Good food, good mood, good digestion, good health

Eat well to feel better – wellbeing begins from within.

We believe passionately in bringing food back to basics whilst enjoying the nutritional value that we get from every tasty mouthful. We don’t have your typical ‘Cordon Bleu’ education or any fancy knife skills to speak of – instead, we’re home cooks with an interest in food that makes us feel our best. We built the Because Cookie Dough philosophy around age-old nutritious foods such as bone broth (homemade long-cooked stock made from bones) and the natural fats that have been nourishing people for thousands of years before they fell out of fashion. Our meals are based on natural ingredients, including quality meat, fish, dairy, and a rainbow of seasonal fruit and veg, as well as a range of well prepared pseudocereals, pulses, nuts and seeds. These recipes are free from gluten, grains, refined sugar and hydrogenated vegetable oils; we minimise even natural sugars in our cooking in order to maintain more consistent energy levels.

The Because Cookie Dough business grew organically as people became interested in our approach to health, wellbeing and food. Our books act as a go-to guide for anyone looking to create meals that are simple, nutrient-dense and utterly delicious. In our books, we not only talk about bulk cooking, nose-to-tail eating and share tips on sourcing ingredients of good provenance but also emphasise the importance of good digestion, explaining everything from the virtues of thoroughly chewing to the importance of natural probiotic foods.

Our ethos encompasses a holistic mindset. We believe that what you eat, how you care for your body and the way you feel are intrinsically linked. We champion a philosophy which is simple, mindful and intuitive, steering clear of ‘quick-fix’ answers which are abundant in the health and wellness (and even fashion) industries by teaching a long term lifestyle change.
